Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. - Confucius
I can't help but feel insanely blessed that I stumbled into this career of mine. Professionally trained as a School Counselor (masters and all!) I never thought I could love a job as much as I do designing and coordinating weddings and events.
My career in education was fulfilling beyond belief, there is no doubt about that. I loved my students and the incredible team of teachers and administration I worked with, and there are days I miss them dearly.
However, wedding planning is fulfilling in a whole new way- witnessing one of the most sacred days in a couple's life. It is not just the day of the wedding, it is the entire experience leading up to the day- learning about what makes a couple work and what challenges they may have, we become incredibly invested in the people we work with- they become our friends.
There is nothing I love more than helping couples to navigate the uncharted territories of wedding planning (along with the family issues planning a wedding can sometimes cause). Wedding planning is more than design, contracts and coordination (which I thoroughly enjoy as well!), but also about making a couple's wedding day comfortable, enjoyable and memorable for them.
Recently coordinating my own wedding, I can relate personally to the help that is needed and how appreciative I was for those that stood close by through the tedious process. It was the people that helped during planning that made not just the day amazing, but the entire engagement season. When planning such an extensive party there are times you just want to throw in the towel, call it quits and elope, but having a planner there to pick you up, and take the weight off your shoulders and remind you that this is a really special time in your life, is an incredible gift to give someone. I find so much contentment in being that person for our clients.
